- Fragrance Family: Aromatic/fougère
- Concentration: Eau de Parfum Intense
- Motivation: Sensual
This intense upgrade of Saint Laurent’s signature Y EDP for men is unapologetically sensual. As a big fan of the original Y, I found this scent to be more textured and potent than the initial eau de parfum, and it goes without saying that it lasts much longer. Created by renowned perfumer Dominique Ropion (who was also behind Rabanne’s runaway success Invictus), it sits in the aromatic/fougère family of scents: fresh, green, and woody in undertone.
Effervescent with fiery ginger, spicy juniper berries and bergamot, it sets a fresh yet sophisticated opening scene; which is softened with aromatic sage, lavender from Provence, and fresh geranium. My favorite part about this fragrance, however, is the intoxicatingly woody base of cedar, vetiver, and earthy patchouli from Bali—which only kicks in an hour into wearing it. With Lenny Kravitz as its poster boy, you know you’re in good company.
