Transfer news live: Chiesa, Sterling, Sancho updates; Premier League latest and more

Aaron Ramsdale is undergoing a medical ahead of joining Southampton from Arsenal for a fee of £25million.

The deal will see Arsenal receive £18m upfront alongside £1m should Southampton avoid relegation this season, with the remaining £6m based on incentives.

The goalkeeper is set to join Southampton with a proposed four-year contract through to 2028 with the option of a further year, with details yet to be finalised.

Ramsdale, 26, had fallen down the pecking order at Arsenal following the arrival of David Raya from Brentford last summer and is now set for a move to the south coast club.

Arsenal will now advance their efforts to sign 23-year-old Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia.

Southampton have been looking to strengthen their goalkeeper ranks before the end of the transfer window. Alex McCarthy, 34, has started Southampton’s opening two league matches this season.

Wolverhampton Wanderers and Bournemouth were among the other Premier League clubs who had monitored a move for Ramsdale earlier this summer, but it is Southampton who have moved to sign the England international.
