‘Tis the season for close spreads and playoff hopes clinched or shattered. With only two weeks left in the regular season, NFL Week 17 brings us five festive and full days of football with several close matchups in the odds.
In the AFC, the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers are in a dead heat to win the AFC North, with the Ravens equalizing the head-to-head in a 34-17 win on Saturday after losing to the Steelers in Week 11. Both teams play in back-to-back games on Christmas Day.
The Steelers open Week 17 against the Kansas City Chiefs, with the Chiefs opening as 2.5-point road favorites. The Ravens play right after against the Houston Texans and are 4-point favorites in Houston. (Despite the fact that H-town queen Beyoncé will be performing at halftime!)
The Thursday night game sees the Seattle Seahawks battle for a playoff spot as 3.5-point favorites against the eliminated Chicago Bears.
Saturday brings three matchups, perhaps the most important of which features the Denver Broncos at the Cincinnati Bengals. Joe Burrow & Co. are desperate for a playoff run they were expected to clinch with a lot more ease, while Bo Nix & Co. are probably just happy to be in the conversation this year. The Broncos are two wins ahead of the Bengals, but the Bengals opened as 3-point favorites for the matchup.
Sunday’s nine games feature a bitter rivalry between the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles, and a close matchup between the Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings. The Eagles are big 9.5-point favorites against the Cowboys, while the Vikings are 1.5-point home favorites as of Monday afternoon before the Packers play in Week 16’s “Monday Night Football.”
The Vikings are on an eight-game win streak that brought them even with the Detroit Lions in the NFC North. The Lions play Monday night and are currently 3.5-point favorites against the shockingly eliminated San Francisco 49ers.
