A hotel restaurant setting the New York media crowd abuzz is rare. Doing so days after opening is nearly impossible. But it’s all in a day’s work for the group behind Standard Hotels. They’ve brought plenty of their scenemaker energy to this new site south of Houston Street: no children or TVs, a low-key reception that checks in on you via text message, mustard-yellow walls and red lacquer headboards. The hotel was even hosting fashion week parties before it had officially opened. “A welcome new hideaway in the city,” says Off-White creative director Ib Kamara. “The Manner, to me, has quickly become a New York staple. The atmosphere is perfect for either dancing in the lounge or an intimate catch-up with friends.” We’d add that we think it’s the ideal place to rest your head if you’re going to Charli XCX’s massive arena concert in Brooklyn this spring. —Rebecca Dolan

Travel For: The FA Cup Final

The Grand Hotel Bellevue looks like something out of Wes Anderson’s dreams. A Victorian-era townhouse. Burnt-orange walls. Sleek wooden accents. The bar even features bespoke tapestries designed by Emily Bode. “We love everything Fabrizio Casiraghi does,” says Bode, referring to the Italian “starchitect” whose projects in Miami Beach and Milan have made headlines. With Bellevue, Casiraghi has married modern French accents with old-school Victoriana throughout the 60 rooms, from “cabins” designed to look like a ship’s berth to a lofty suite with panoramic views of Norfolk Square. Bayswater might be a bit off the tourist path, but its proximity to Paddington Station is ideal for fans going to the FA Cup Final at Wembley (or those of you who nabbed tickets to the Oasis tour). — Nathalie Kernot

Travel For: The Monaco Grand Prix

The Monaco Grand Prix is nearing its centenary, so grid geeks might think they’ve exhausted all the best hotel options. But the recently opened Hôtel du Couvent, just along the coast in Nice, offers a monastic contrast to the champagne sprays of race day. As its name suggests, the hotel is built inside a 17th-century convent, with sparse, elegant interiors to match. Cascading terraced gardens look out over the Med: a view impossible to tire of, but just in case, there’s also an open-air cinema, 65-foot pool—and a resident herbalist who whips up custom-made remedies. Hopefully, that includes a cure for post-race head throbbing. — Nathalie Kernot
