Harry’s Plus Razor Review 2025: Tried and Tested

Though Harry’s Plus Razor just dropped, the brand has been a household name for years—walk through Target or scroll through shaving products on Amazon, and you’ll spot that signature blue packaging. What started over a decade ago as an industry disruptor (and I say “disruptor” admiringly) with a simple, Shark Tank-worthy idea—high-quality razors and cartridges at a more accessible price—has become a grooming mainstay. Well, gents, the new Harry’s Plus Razor is finally here, and after a couple of weeks of testing this manual bad boy, I can confidently say it’s their best razor yet.

I spoke with Jeff Raider, co-founder and co-CEO of Mammoth Brands, about the new Plus last week, and what struck me was how genuinely passionate he is about razors and the science behind them. “Since founding Harry’s, we’ve had a vision to create a next-generation razor system that could deliver truly premium performance,” Raider told me. While some brands might tweak a handle, adjust a blade angle, and call it a day, Harry’s went all in—we’re talking a decade of R&D, acquiring a German blade factory (home to some of the world’s best razors, IYKYK), and obsessing over every detail. They built and rebuilt, gathered feedback, and refined. And it shows: The razor glides effortlessly, hugs the contours of your face, gives a super-close shave, and feels solid and balanced in hand. Let’s dig into what makes it their best yet.

It Glides Through Stubble With Ease

Last year, while visiting with family, I needed a razor for the weekend and bought the classic Harry’s Winston at Target. While it delivered a good shave, I had to go over a few areas more than once, and it didn’t quite contour exactly as I would have liked. The new Harry’s Plus, though, fixes all of that. It didn’t just glide—it shaved stubble like it was flying through a cloud, super slick in the best way. I shaved quickly and didn’t have to worry about nicks or retracing too much—just one pass down, one back up, and I had a very close shave. The cartridge feels loose when you unbox it, but that’s by design—once it clicks into the handle, it’s Advanced Pivoting System flexes with just the right give and structure. It contours, allowing you to shave quickly without too much pressure, i.e. it works with you.

Every Blade Pulls Its Weight

This effortless shave is thanks mainly to the new cartridge, which hits the sweet spot between comfort and performance. It looks compact—and that’s by design, as it houses a completely reengineered blade system and the brand’s most streamlined cartridge to date. I won’t dive too deep into the science, but overall the blades are positioned closer together in what Raider described as a “bed of nails” effect, allowing them to cut hair in a more sequential order. This layout provides better support and reduces irritation, especially for those prone to razor burn. This Progressive Blade Architecture allows each blade to cut incrementally closer to the follicle, and as they’re each made from a single piece of steel, they flex and adapt better to your skin. The compact size also improves maneuverability in pesky spots, like under the nose or around the jawline. And while I won’t pretend to understand it, the cartridge also features Shooting Ion technology, which energizes the blades to reduce drag and enhance glide—like what you hear about in high-end hairdryers. What I do understand is the result: Every blade pulls its weight, distributing pressure evenly to minimize tugging and deliver a buttery-smooth shave. Oh, and there’s also a precision blade on the back—perfect for sideburns and touch-ups.

A Re-Engineered Handle

I dig the classic Harry’s handles, but after testing over 100 prototypes to nail the shape, weight, and balance, the team leveled it up with the Plus. It has a satisfying premium weight—solid without being too heavy—and the matte metal finish, tapered neck, and ergonomic, non-slip grip all feel intentional and well thought out. I appreciate the finger rest and the grip’s neutral colorways, too. (the subtle details make a difference). To connect the upgraded cartridge, they re-engineered the handle with a spring-supported push-button release that keeps the blade locked in while making swaps quick and easy. The metal stand is a nice touch, with a minimal footprint and enough sleek style to class up your sink or medicine cabinet.

Tough on Whiskers, Easy on Wallets

It wouldn’t be Harry’s if it wasn’t democratized for every guy, and they’ve kept the price of the Plus refreshingly accessible. The Starter Set is $20 and includes one handle, cartridge, a 2oz Foaming Shave Gel, and a travel cover. Cartridges refills run around $15—still very easy on the wallet. One note for the Harry’s faithful: The Plus cartridges and handles aren’t interchangeable with the Original, but after you take this for a shave, I suspect it’ll become your new favorite from the line. I’m not saying the Plus must replace every razor in your rotation—I’ve got my tried-and-true options, too—but it absolutely earns a spot in any grooming regimen. Whether it becomes your new daily driver or a go-to for a smoother, more elevated shave, the Plus delivers. Treat yourself (or Dad)—you’ll see why it’s worth the hype.
