Browns' Myles Garrett makes NFL history with 14-plus sacks in 4 consecutive seasons

Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett made NFL history in Week 17 by becoming the first player to tally at least 14 sacks in four consecutive seasons.

Garrett notched two sacks Sunday — which was also his 29th birthday — against the Miami Dolphins to reach the milestone. The 14th sack came in the fourth quarter on Dolphins quarterback Tyler Huntley.

Over the past four seasons, Garrett has had seasons of 16 sacks (in 2021 and 2022) and 14 sacks (2023 and 2024 — with one game left). He has been a force on defense for the Browns as a five-time All-Pro and the reigning Associated Press Defensive Player of the Year.

Last week, Garrett crossed 100 career sacks and became just the fifth player since sacks became an official stat in 1982 to reach 100 in his first eight seasons. After Sunday’s game, his 102.5 career sacks are tied with Jim Jeffcoat for 38th on the NFL all-time list.

“The approach every week (is) get as many as you can, dominate, disrupt, help the team win, have fun doing it,” Garrett said earlier this month. “So, it makes it no different that I’m half a sack away from 100 or any other milestone. Just want to go out there and win.”

Garrett has been a bright spot in a difficult season for the Browns, who fell to 3-13 with the loss to Miami. He is under contract for the team through the 2026 season and recently spoke about needing to see a plan from the front office that he feels can get the Browns back on track.

“First of all, I want to win and I want the Browns to be able to put me and us in position to win,” Garrett said. “I’m not trying to rebuild. I’m trying to win right now. I want that to be apparent when the season’s over and we have those discussions.

“I want them to be able to illuminate that for me, illustrate that for me, so that can be something I can see in the near future. Cause that’s all we want to do. I want to stay loyal to a team that shows loyalty to me and faith in me by drafting me.”
