Fall Boots (And My Hot Take on Skinny Jeans)

There are two types of boots I’m seeing everywhere this season that create two very different silhouettes for your favorite outfits. One is a very slender boot, often with a pointed toe. Because jeans are getting wider (hello to my new favorite pair), it’s great to have a slim boot that you can zip up against your leg silhouette so you can have a contrast to the baggier jeans.

Alternatively, I’m also noticing a return to slouchy knee-high boots. These loosey goosey boots work really well with skirts. I’ve even seen them over skinny jeans. In case no one else has said this to you, and you need some validation, I’m giving you permission to keep wearing those skinny jeans!!

Either way, suede is really in for fall, and you’re going to want to protect if from the elements. My go-to is this Scotchguard Suede Protector that helps weather-proof my boots.

Check out these picks that I have my eye on this fall:

Tall Boots

A good pair of tall boots is such an essential this time of year—they feel so versatile whether under a skirt or over a pair of jeans. This season, I’m seeing more kitten heels on boots…so demure. If you don’t have one of these in your closet, here are my favorites!

Mid-Rise Boots

I’m loving all the Western-themed apparel these days, and mid-rise boots are where this style can go to town. From buckles to embroidered details, chunky heels have never had so much fun. I’m partial to a dark brown style that I can casually pair with most dresses, but I’d switch to black to make my outfit a bit more edgy or tone it down with a light tan.

Ankle Boots

The ankle boot is like the blazer of the footwear world: It’s a power move. Whether you have a thin heel or a chunky heel, ankle boots go from the office to a party without blinking an eye. I love adding texture with a snakeskin or suede boot on a fall outfit. These rich chestnut and nearly oxblood tones…soooooo good. And black is just a classic to have on hand.
