However you feel about it, the Land-Dweller is an interesting model for the brand: Both self-referencing (via its vintage Oysterquartz inspo) and tech-forward, it expands the brand’s Classic line in a fresh way. Plus, it’s already got some starry fans now like Federer and Leo.

Speaking of cinema legends, CinemaCon, and Rolex, Tom Cruise likewise appeared with a cool Rollie on the wrist—this time in the form of the brand’s beloved precious-metal Day-Date. Appearing at a talk about his upcoming Mission Impossible: Final Reckoning film—and to deliver a heartfelt tribute to his friend and fellow Top Gun star Val Kilmer, who sadly passed away this week—he wore a 40-mm configuration in platinum with a cool mother-of-pearl dial set with baguette-cut hour indices. Other features include the Day-Date’s signature President bracelet and fluted bezel, iconic features that have been present since its 1956 debut.
Rami Malek’s Cartier Tank Américaine
Karwai Tang
Rami Malek wore a sleek Tank Américaine to the premier of his new spy flick The Amateur. As a friend of Cartier, Malek has his pick of the litter when it comes to the maison’s beautiful watches. It’s tough to argue with the Tank Américainen, however. Available in several sizes, its curved case and elongated dial are a sort of modern riff on Cartier’s beloved Cintrée, a model with similar properties that debuted way back in 1921. Malek’s piece is one of the Large versions, with a platinum case, ruby cabochon crown, hand-wound movement, and handsome off-white dial that make it extra special.

One thing about being captain of Inter Miami CF is that you have more opportunities to wear pink than the average man. Hence his Oyster Perpetual ref. 126000 in pink—which, as of Tuesday, has been discontinued to make room for fresh pastel-colored versions in beige, lavender, and pistachio. A serious collector, Messi has all kinds of wild pieces in his watch roll, including all manner of complicated Patek Philippe. Which sort of makes it all the more fun when he rocks a sub-$10K time-only watch with a bright pink dial! His watch game is as versatile as his football play.

John Mulaney wore an under-the-radar pick on the set of his show Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney. The Chopard L.U.C. Qualité Fleurier in Lucent Steel is a high-end, time-only watch from a brand that’s been on fire lately. And while many collectors are hot on the brand’s Alpine Eagle luxury sports watch, the L.U.C. collection contains some absolute horological bangers. This one in particular measures just 8.9mm thick and contains the brand’s twin-barrel L.U.C 96.09-L micro-rotor movement with 65-hour power reserve.
