Luke Shaw is an injury doubt for Manchester United’s trip to Luton Town on Sunday but Erik ten Hag was hopeful he could be available.

The 28-year-old was substituted at half-time in United’s 2-1 win over Aston Villa on Sunday and was replaced by Victor Lindelof, with Erik ten Hag saying at full time this was just a “precaution”

Shaw returned to first team action at the beginning of February after recovering from a hamstring issue.

“Yes, he is doubtful for the weekend, but we are positive he can make it,” Ten Hag said. “He came out as a precaution, I think it was the right decision and we are working to Sunday.”

Shaw has made 11 appearances in all competitions this season after missing three months of action with a hamstring injury sustained in August. He missed a further four games between December and January after his season was again disrupted by a hamstring problem.

Ten Hag also confirmed Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Mason Mount and Tyrell Malacia are all a number of weeks away from making their return.

Wan-Bissaka has missed United’s last four matches in all competitions and suffered a set-back after picking up another injury in training last week.

Malacia is yet to feature this season due to a knee injury, while Mount has been restricted to 12 appearances after being sidelined since November with a calf injury.

“First Aaron Wan-Bissaka will take some weeks because he picked up another injury in training last week,” Ten Hag said. “And Mason Mount and Tyrell Malacia will take some more weeks.

“He (Malacia) had setbacks during his rehab process. It takes too long it is bad for him but now we turn the point and it is positive, he will return soon on the pitch and it will take long before he is returning on the pitch.”
