The Minnesota Timberwolves will be without guard Donte DiVincenzo indefinitely after he suffered a left big toe injury against the Golden State Warriors last week.
DiVincenzo underwent an MRI, which revealed a Grade 3 sprain in his toe, the Timberwolves said Monday. The team and DiVincenzo are seeking a second opinion to determine his best treatment options.
DiVincenzo, 27, has recently been playing his best basketball of the season and earned a spot in the starting lineup. He’s started six straight games in January and scored a season-high 28 points in Wednesday’s 116-115 loss to the Warriors.
This season, DiVincenzo has averaged 11.0 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.6 assists in 40 games. Minnesota is 22-20 and sits eighth in the Western Conference.
DiVincenzo is in his first season with the Timberwolves, who acquired him in a three-team trade with the New York Knicks and Charlotte Hornets in October.
